Your Travel Guide To Ksamil, Albania

The Albanian town dotted with stunning beach clubs is fast cementing its reputation as the Maldives of Europe. Here’s how to spend a weekend there

If you yearn for an extraordinary European escape, Albania remains a hidden gem waiting to be unearthed. While the well-trodden paths of Western Europe dominate the itineraries of most travellers, this enchanting Balkan nation offers a refreshing alternative; a treasure trove of culture, history and untamed natural beauty. At the heart of its allure lies Ksamil, a pristine jewel along the Albanian Riviera—often dubbed ‘The Maldives of Europe’.

Ksamil earns its moniker from hypnotic Ionian waters and powdery white sands. But it’s more than a tropical knockoff—it channels a retro-cool vibe reminiscent of Miami’s golden era in the ’80s and ’90s. A constellation of breath-taking beaches strung together like pearls, for ₹1,300–4,500, you get the full VIP setup at beach bars and clubs—sun loungers, a chic umbrella and prime content for the ’gram.

Bora Bora Ksamil

Set on the glittering shores of Bora Bora Beach, enjoy the island views and a menu celebrating Albanian and Mediterranean flavours. Don’t miss the seafood starter that’s loaded with more jumbo prawns, clams and squid that you can count!

Ohana Beach Bar

While other beach bars crank up the party with live DJs and entertainment, Ohana keeps it all very chill. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape, this is the spot. When it’s time for nosh, dive face-first into the Seafood Risotto. Or go for the simple Fried Fish—you’ll never eat one that’s fresher.

Pema-E-Thatë

Located just three kilometres from Ksamil Town, this remote paradise offers the ultimate beach club experience. The best part is the floating island, accessible only by raft—so don’t pre-game too hard on the beach before you get there. A DJ spins high-octane beats all day, and private sunbeds with net hammocks provide an indulgent spot for sunbathing or making a splash into the refreshing waters.

Poda Beach Club

Just a short stroll from Ksamil’s main beach—where sugar-white sands meet the thrill of jet skis—you’ll find this cool club. If you’re feeling a little extra (and who isn’t on vacation?), the VIP area offers plush daybeds and five-star service for ₹4,500 per person. The pièce de resistance is the Instagram-famous swing in the sea. Sure, you’ll queue for the shot, but this beach is so much more than a fleeting social media moment.

Getting there

The Albanian capital of Tirana is easily accessible from major cities such as Rome, London and Belgrade (daily flights). Ksamil is a four-hour drive south from Tirana.
