When was the last time you found yourself dreaming about the beach?
Was it during yet another meeting that could’ve been an email? During a movie when the protagonists found themselves ‘stranded’ on a beach? Was it an influencer whose reel had you craving some sand between your toes? Or was it an abrupt moment during a monotonous day when you were whiling away your time wondering how to add some excitement to your life?
It doesn’t matter how you got there; the fact remains that there are few things more exhilarating than spending time at a gorgeous beach, doing whatever it is you’d like to do. Which is why, if you haven’t as yet, take this as your cue to start planning your next beach holiday right away. And speaking of beach vacations, how about 3 of the world’s best beaches?
As per the World’s 50 Best Beaches 2024 list, 3 of the top 10 beaches are pretty close to Indian shores. Plus, all three happen to be under a 5-hour duration (by flight), making them ideal choices for your next trip.
3 of the Best Beaches in the World
Pink Beach, Indonesia
Ranked number 7 on the list, Indonesia’s Pink Beach is extremely popular among both beach and photography enthusiasts thanks to the pink hue of its sand, caused by the mixture of red coral fragments with the white sand. The beach is part of a protected area within the famous Komodo National Park, so you have the opportunity of exploring both places while you’re there.

How to get there: Fly to Bali and then, take a domestic flight to Labuan Bajo, from where you can take a boat ride to Komodo Island.
Anse Georgette, Seychelles
While Seychelles has many spectacular beaches, what helps Anse Georgette stand apart is the comparatively calmer waters, allowing tourists to tread inside with ease. It’s also located at a remote spot and you need to finish a short hike to get here, which ensures the beach is never too crowded despite its popularity.

How to get there: Fly from Mumbai to Seychelles and upon leading, take a ferry to Anse Lazio. A short hike from there takes you to Anse Georgette.
Horse Shoe Island, Myanmar
That Horse Shoe island is yet to become a major tourist attraction should be enough reason for anyone to add to it their itineraries. Named after its unique crescent-shaped beach, the island is a haven for those like their holidays with a side of peace and quiet. Also, since the island’s layout forms a natural harbour, it’s a great and safe spot to indulge in various water activities.

How to get there: Fly to Yangon and take a domestic flight to Kawthoung. From there, a not-so-short bus and boat ride will get you to the island.
