As a wise woman once told me, a man who can cook is one who’ll get to eat - if you know what I mean!
It’s one of those life skills that everyone should know, yes, but also one that could get you major brownie points from your date. There’s something about a man who could whip up a delicious meal that certainly gets the ladies (and gentlemen) going. Don’t shoot the messenger – it’s a lore as old as, well, the first ‘how to impress your woman’ article that ever existed on the internet.

And if you know how to cook, take it to the next level by mastering an exotic (yet easy to make) recipe or cuisine and see how it melts the minds, hearts and souls of your prospective partners. Our suggestion is to take that one recipe – something you like and something you’re sure he/she/they will like – and get comfortable with it. It should be something that isn’t too intimidating – you need to be sure you can make it. Don’t aim for the skies. Not too complicated, delicious to taste. That should be the aim. And of course, something that looks good too – presentation matters!
Date-Night Recipes
We’ve put together 5 easy date-night recipes. All you need to do is get cooking!
Thai Yellow Curry
It’s one of those comfort dishes that’s perfect for when you want a cosy night-in with your partner while also wanting to eat something that’s a little out of your everyday meal plan.

How to make Thai Yellow Curry:
Sauté onion and garlic in a pan with olive oil, along with some curry powder and salt. Add coconut milk and let the mixture simmer and keep an eye out for lumps. To this, add tofu or cottage cheese (or any meat of your choice if you don’t want to keep it vegetarian) and let it cook on low heat. While this is happening, in a different pan, sauté some vegetables (of your choice) using the same ingredients (minus the coconut milk) and later, combine the two and let it all cook for a few minutes.

Chicken, Broccoli & Sweet Potato Bake
If you don’t want to ruin your diet even one bit, this is the recipe you should learn to master. It’s healthy, delicious and won’t take much effort to prepare.

How to make Chicken, Broccoli and Sweet Potato Bake:
Set your oven to 375° and let your chicken cook in it, using a casserole dish that’s been coated with olive oil. While that’s happening, prepare broccoli and sweet potato in a pan with olive oil and add garlic, onion, salt, nuts and mix it all well. Once the mixture is cooked and ready, pour it gently over your chicken. Cover it all up with a foil and put it back in the oven for another 40-45 minutes. You’ll need it’s ready when the sweet potatoes will become tender.
Spaghetti Carbonara
For lovers of Italian cuisine, nothing tastes better than this one. Plus, it’s quite a popular date night order at most restaurants so why not prepare it for when you’re cooking for your special someone, right?

How to make Spaghetti Carbonara:
To start with, cook the meat of your choice in olive oil (in a shallow pan, ideally) along with garlic for about 10 minutes. Once the meat is looking crisp, turn off the heat. The next step would be to prepare your pasta. For that, in salted water, cook your pasta (we’d say al dente) and while that is happening, whisk two egg yolks with a pinch of salt on the side as well. Once the pasta is prepped, gently transfer it to the pan with the meat along with some of the pasta water. Add the beaten yolks to the mixture and some more pasta water (if needed) and stir it well. Add cheese on top, if you’d like, and let it all cook till it’s ready.
Chilli-Spiced Hot Chocolate
Since everything on this list is main course, why not add a dessert to the mixture. Only this one is like a spicy dessert that releases endorphins and is a known aphrodisiac but it’s extremely decadent and delightful, nonetheless.

How to make Chilli-Spiced Hot Chocolate:
Heat some milk and chilli (depending on how spicy you would like it) and bring it to a boil. Add malt powder, chocolate pieces (we’d recommend dark) and sugar to taste, along with some cinnamon. Keep stirring till the chocolate has full dissolved and pour hot off the pan.
Spaghetti Aglio E Olio
Who doesn’t love this one, isn’t it? It’s also one of the easiest dishes to make so you won’t be needing to slave too hard in the kitchen to impress your date either.

How to make Spaghetti Aglio E Olio:
Cook the pasta in salted water and while that’s happening, cook garlic and chilli in olive oil on the side. After about 10 minutes, transfer the cooked pasta along with some pasta water to the other pan and let it all cook together for some time. You could also add some cheese to the mixture at this point, should you want to.
