World Tequila Day: How Delhi-NCR Showed Up To Celebrate Its Favourite Spirit

It's an unsaid rule that every good evening must involve great tequila.

There's no better way to add the perfect amount of je ne sais quoi to your celebration. Any true-blue party-hopper knows it. As do those who like a night out in the town on a fairly frequent basis. Which other drink can claim to be as much fun? Tequila is the right amount of fun. Tequila knows how to have fun. And include you in that merriment. It goes well with your favourite mixer but is equally fabulous with it. It’s also low on calories – what's not to love?

And speaking of love, tequila got oodles of it at Japonico in Gurugram, where Esquire India hosted a celebration for World Tequila Day, in partnership with Patron, on July 18. The best of the city's most talked-about individuals turned up for a night of robust revelry, and celebrate this agave-based spirit. Designers, entrepreneurs, artists and influencers, literally everyone who is someone, showed up and had a blast. It turned out to be everything what was promised, and so much more. It’s never a dull evening when tequila is the table de jour, after all.

Hosted by Esquire India editor Rahul Gangwani, the night was all about tequila - what makes it the perfect accompaniment to every person's palette, and how to use it to make every kind of drink. Patron’s El Alto, named after the Highlands of Mexico, was the star of the evening – it captures the brand’s impeccable legacy of small-batch craftsmanship and pure, premium ingredients, while elevating it with innovative blends of extra añejo and reposado tequilas. No one, absolutely no one, could get enough of its layers of caramel, dried fruit and honey with a silky-smooth finish that’s every bit unique and tantalising. El Alto made for the perfect companion for everyone, and they all had a blast!

The mood was upbeat, the music was groovy and the conversations flowed more smoothly than most other things. There was fashion, food and everything else that’s fabulous. Even the weather gods were on our side – Delhi's monsoon paused for a bit to allow for something else to take centerstage. And tequila made for the perfect icing on the cake. Quite like all memorable moments and exciting evenings.
