Panchayat Season 5: Here's What’s Coming

It’s not one of India’s most popular OTT shows for nothing! 

Amazon Prime Video’s Panchayat has slowly but surely won the hearts of viewers across the country with its fine mix of comedy and drama, characters that tug at your heart strings and performances that stay with you long after. With 4 successful seasons behind it, the show starring Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta, among others, is that perfect kind of family drama you probably grew up watching.  

And it’s back – with season 5 that was announced as part of Prime Video’s slate for 2026 – and fans can’t keep calm, for obvious reasons.

Panchayat Season 5: Release Date 

When Panchayat was confirmed for season 5, Prime Video had announced its release date for sometime in 2026. However, no exact date has been confirmed as yet. But Prime Video has shared that the show is going to “arrive soon”, and that’s been enough for anticipation to rise. It also ends months of speculation about a possible next season after the success that was the show’s season 4. Season 5 of Panchayat will also be streaming exclusively on Prime Video – it is one of the streamer’s crown jewels, after all. 

Panchayat Season 5: Cast 

Jitendra Kumar returns in Season 5 as Abhishek Tripathi, the show’s lead character, as his stint in Phulera continues to evolve in terms of both his professional and personal ambitions. Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav too are returning to reprise their characters in the new season, as are Faisal Malik and Chandan Roy, both of whom have won laurels for their work in the show. Almost all other cast members are also coming back in the new season, making it one of those rare shows on Indian streaming that continues to progress with the original cast in tow.

Panchayat Season 4: Recap

A contentious panchayat election had been the central premise of Panchayat’s season 4, that ended in Kranti Devi defeating the long-time pradhan, Manju Devi, at the end. The season finale also showed Jitendra Kumar’s character having finally cleared his CAT exam – he still has a few months to make a decision between leaving the village to pursue his MBA or stay with them. Then there’s his equation with Rinki that’s only progressed in season 4, all of which was left open ended as the previous season ended.  

Panchayat Season 5 Story: What Can Be Expected

Panchayat’s season 5 has a lot of exciting possibilities in terms of its storyline & it’s going to be quite an exciting watch for viewers.  

Firstly, what will Abhishek Tripathi choose – a fancy career outside or a life in the village with people he’s come to be close to in Phulera? There’s also his romance with Rinki – it's definitely not going to be easy for our leading man to make a choice between love & career, for sure.  

Then there’s the political rivalry between Manju Devi who lost her position and the new pradhan, Kranti Devi. Will she manage to hold on to her reign in the village or is there more political upheaval waiting to happen?
