

After a successful theatrical run, Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali's latest film Main Vaapas Aaunga is heading to OTT.
Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh, Vedang Raina and Naseeruddin Shah in the star ensemble, the Partition-era romantic drama turned out to be a surprising box office success after a slow start post its release in second week of June 2026.
Praised for its emotional storytelling and powerful performance by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, the film explores themes of love, longing and belonging as well as loss through two timelines, following characters whose lives are forever shaped by one of the biggest historical upheavals the Indian subcontinent has witnessed. By blending romance with historical trauma, Ali delves into what it means to be "home" across generations.
Main Vaapas Aaunga that released on June 12, 2026 will be available on OTT starting August 7 2026. Imtiaz Ali-directed film which is set against the 1947 backdrop, follows a 95-year-old patriarch (Naseeruddin Shah) on his deathbed who is haunted by memories of his first love and a strong desire to return to his birthplace in pre-Partition Punjab. His grandson (Diljit Dosanjh) travels to trace his grandfather's buried past and seek closure for a lifelong promise.
Moreover, the director has also announced another project with the young leading talents from his latest film. Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh are making the news again for another project with Ali that's going into filming starting November. Imtiaz has locked the screenplay as well after an extensive writing process, and with the casting been finalised and announced, the entire team is now gearing up for the shoot, with pre-production progressing as planned, the report added. The intention is to take the film to the floors in November, and everyone involved is excited about bringing this story to life.
Currently, Netflix has earned exclusive rights to screen the Main Vaapas Aaunga on its platform and will be available for viewing starting August 7, 2026.
