Cannes Film Festival 2026 Lineup Revealed
Check out the list of films that could dominate the global awards conversation this year
Each year the Cannes Film Festival acts as a launchpad for films that eventually become Oscar-nominated and best Oscar-winners. Anora and Parasite were Cannes favourite films that eventually rose up to claim that year's Best Picture.
Of course, the Palme d'Or selections aren't limited to large-scale productions only. Each year the lineup often features a mix of smaller independent films alongside works from some of the world's most prominent international filmmakers. And 2026 line up is as interesting as it is each year.
In 2025, while the Indian film, Homebound, by Neeraj Ghaywan did not take home an Oscar or a Palme d'Or, it certainly took home widespread critical acclaim from international film circuits and stood out as the year's most talked about Indian films. As attention now shifts to this year’s Cannes Film Festival, anticipation is building around a fresh lineup of films hoping to follow a similar path from critical recognition to global accolades.

With the new lineup revealed earlier this week, the 2026 Cannes Film Festival that will take place on May 23, 2026 will include debut of new works from previous Cannes winners Cristian Mungiu and Hirokazu Kore-eda, as well as two-time Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi and veteran American indie director Ira Sachs.
