Much awaited Ramayana: Part One is all set to hit the theaters on November 5 just days before Diwali. The highly anticipated film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is set to arrive on JioHotstar after its theatrical run, but viewers hoping to stream it as part of their regular subscription should take note.
According to the official press release, the film will be available through a pay-per-view model, meaning audiences will need to purchase access separately rather than rely on a standard streaming subscription.
The film opens worldwide on November 5, 2026, and will also screen in IMAX 3D. According to the release the on-demand option is aimed at people who may not have access to the film in cinemas, and it promises the best picture quality their devices support. The price, the digital release date and the length of the theatrical window have not been announced.
JioStar Chairperson Nita M. Ambani described the Ramayana as "one of India's greatest civilisational treasures." She said the partnership lets JioHotstar use technology to bring the finest stories within every Indian's reach. She called it a privilege to present the film to families across the country and to introduce a new generation to the epic's values of duty, love, courage and goodness.
Producer Namit Malhotra still believes the film is best seen in IMAX 3D. "Ramayana belongs to every Indian," he said, adding that our ambition must reflect that. He called JioHotstar a natural partner for taking the film into living rooms after its theatrical run.
Nitesh Tiwari directs this two-part live-action series. Shridhar Raghavan has adapted Valmiki's epic for the screen. Prime Focus Studios is producing alongside DNEG, the eight-time Academy Award-winning visual effects studio, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
The cast features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The ensemble also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal, among others. Part Two is slated for Diwali 2027.
Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English, Ramayana: Part One is positioned as a major cinematic event this Diwali. For viewers planning to watch it at home, the key detail is simple: JioHotstar is the confirmed digital platform, but streaming will require a separate purchase, with the date and price still to be revealed.
