Not many Indian thriller franchises can hold the tension at its climax across three films. But Drishyam has done it. Drishyam 3 is here, and audiences are once again stuck inside Georgekutty's careful world of lies, fear, and just plain survival. The third chapter continues the psychological fight between Georgekutty and the people who still want to destroy his family. The film brings back some old wounds, but also raises the stakes with new conspiracies, emotional breakdowns, and an ending that leaves the whole franchise wide open to future possibilities.
Right now, the biggest conversation online is about Drishyam 3 ending followed closely by whether Drishyam 4 is already being set up.
On the surface, Georgekutty looks successful. But his personal life is still very fragile. His wife Rani and his daughters Anju and Anu are trying to move on emotionally. Anju has slowly gotten better through therapy. Anu has become more independent and outspoken. Rani just hopes the family can finally live in peace. But Georgekutty can never really escape the past.
Things get tense when Georgekutty notices something suspicious around his home one night. He sees someone digging in his courtyard. Eventually he finds out the man is Sahadevan. That is the violence-prone constable from the first film. Sahadevan is not a cop anymore. He is an unstable alcoholic now. But he is secretly working for Prabhakaran. That is Varun's father.
Here is the emotional twist. The film shows how deeply Varun's death has destroyed his family. Geetha Prabhakaran has fallen into severe depression after years of not getting closure. That pushes Prabhakaran toward revenge. His new plan is much more personal than before.
Prabhakaran tries to trap Georgekutty. He arranges a fake marriage proposal for Anju. The idea is to later frame her in a domestic violence case and reopen legal action against the family. But Georgekutty figures out something is wrong pretty quickly.
As the conspiracy unfolds, he shows again why this franchise works. He does not react emotionally. He studies every move. He protects Anju from the setup. He takes apart the trap before it can fully close. Georgekutty's real strength is not violence or money or connections. It is patience.
After saving his family one more time, Georgekutty reaches a painful conclusion. The cycle of fear and revenge might never end unless he gives something up. In one of the biggest moments of the film, he walks into a police station and surrenders for his past crimes.
The film does not frame this as defeat. It feels like Georgekutty trying to take control one last time before more damage hits his wife and daughters. But even then, the story refuses to end quietly.
The final confrontation between Georgekutty and Prabhakaran strongly hints that this fight is far from over. Georgekutty warns Prabhakaran directly. Stay away from my family. He threatens serious consequences if Prabhakaran targets them again. Meanwhile, Geetha is still emotionally shattered. She still wants Anju punished.
The film leaves several emotional threads hanging on purpose. It clearly suggests another chapter could happen. There is no official Drishyam 4 announcement at the end though. But the open-ended climax strongly points toward the franchise continuing.
Mohanlal leads the cast. Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Siddique, Asha Sarath, Murali Gopy, Santhi Mayadevi, and Veena Nandakumar reprise their important roles.
