GTA 6 fans have been burned twice already, so forgive them for side-eyeing every leak that drops with a caption screaming delay. The latest one, courtesy of leaker Cyberleek, claimed that a part of the recent build looked far from being launch-ready, and the internet did what it does best: panic. The noise on the Net was high enough to force Rockstar to rush in a reply, something that the company never does. A senior executive has once again stepped up to reassure everyone that there is no truth in the GTA 6 release date delay reports. It added that the November 19 2026 launch date is still very much happening, and honestly, at this point, the studio's PR team deserves hazard pay for all the calming down they are doing.
Let us rewind. GTA 6 release date has been pushed back a number of times by Rockstar, which makes fans believe every leak that says the game has been delayed. GTA 6 was first announced in December 2023 with a 2025 window, only for that to get pushed to May 26, 2026, citing the need for extra polish. Then came round two in November 2025, delaying it further to November 19 2026, same reasoning, different date. It has caused an eruption of protest against Rockstar from fans across social media.
So when Rockstar North's Head of Development, Rob Nelson, was asked point-blank by Famitsu in late August 2026 whether GTA 6 launch would actually happen on time, his answer left little room for doubt: "It will be released on time." Third time's the charm, apparently.
Nelson's confidence in GTA 6 release date being adhered to by Rockstar is not happening in isolation either. Parent Take-Two's August 7 financial report backed the November 19 2026 date with what it called a "high degree of confidence," essentially betting a chunk of its fiscal 2027 outlook on the release actually sticking. GTA 6 pre-orders are already live, and digital preloads open November 12, a full week before launch, which is a fairly elaborate setup for a game that is supposedly not ready.
Rockstar has also ramped up GTA 6 marketing considerably, dropping a near-27-minute Extended Look on August 27 on Netflix. Add to that the fact that most of the industry has already cleared out of November 2026 to avoid going head-to-head with GTA 6, and it is clear Rockstar is unlikely to delay the game any more.
Still, could another GTA 6 delay be announced by Rockstar? Sure, nothing is ever fully off the table with a project this massive. But between the money riding on it, the pre-orders stacking up, and an entire release calendar rearranged around it, anything other than November 19 2026 would be the real plot twist here. Something that neither Rockstar nor fans, can afford.
