It has been one of the biggest annoyances for GTA 6 fans for a while now. Rockstar building arguably the biggest release of the decade, and PC players being told to simply wait their turn. But if a new report is anything to go by, that wait might finally not sting as much. GTA 6 PC release date is expected to be sometime in the first quarter of 2027, January through March! Rockstar has not confirmed a word of it, but if true, it puts the GTA 6 PC release date just a few months behind the November 19, 2026 console launch, according to GamesBeat. This is a far cry from how things played out with the GTA 5 release date. Worryingly, there is still no word from Rockstar about the GTA 6 Online release date.
If GTA 6 PC release date is sometime during the January-March period of 2027, then know that the GTA 5 release date was definitely a nightmare. GTA 5 arrived on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. However, GTA 5 PC release did not happen until April 2015, a brutal 19-month gap that left plenty of players feeling like an afterthought. No jokes!
With this reported GTA 6 PC release date, we are potentially looking at a 2-4 month delay instead, which is still a delay, but one that does not require an entire console generation’s worth of patience on gamers' part.
The PC gaming market simply is not what it used to be. Steam keeps setting new concurrent player records, and GTA 5’s own numbers tell the story: PC players now make up around 42% of its base, ahead of PlayStation at 35% and Xbox at 23%.
Rockstar has every incentive to keep separate release windows for GTA 6, since staggered launches tend to squeeze extra sales out of players willing to double-dip. But drag the wait out too long, and you risk players simply tuning out altogether. After all, GTA is not the only fish in the gaming pond.
While the GTA 6 PC rumours are flying, there is still no word on GTA 6 Online release date, and we are barely a month from launch. For context, GTA Online followed GTA 5 console launch by just two weeks on October 1, 2013.
Whether Rockstar repeats the GTA 5 release pattern is anyone's guess, but a tighter GTA 6 PC release window at least hints Rockstar is not planning to make anyone wait as long as the last time.
