Caviar’s Masters of Time collection turns the iPhone 17 Pro Max into an ultra-luxury showcase, adding a functional Swiss watch vault to the rear panel. Using a quick-release locking system, owners can store and wear high-end timepieces, while precious metals, gemstones and astronomical design elements push smartphone customisation into rarefied collector territory.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max has received one of the most extravagant luxury upgrades yet. Luxury customisation company Caviar has unveiled its new Masters of Time collection, featuring customised iPhone 17 Pro Max models with a built-in Swiss watch vault. Prices start at around Rs 2 crore, with select editions incorporating iconic timepieces from brands such as Patek Philippe and IWC directly into the phone's design.
Check out how Caviar has combined high-end horology and smartphone technology in a single luxury device.
Unlike decorative watch-themed smartphone designs, Caviar's latest creation features a functional mechanical compartment built directly into the rear panel of the device.
Called the Watch Vault, the system uses a quick-release locking mechanism that allows owners to securely store a Swiss watch within the phone. The watch can be removed without tools and attached to a standard strap for everyday wear.
To protect the timepiece, the compartment is lined with a soft material designed to minimise scratches. When the watch is removed, owners can replace it with a decorative cover plate inspired by traditional astronomical instruments.
The flagship model in the collection is the Celestial edition, which integrates a Patek Philippe Celestial watch into the customised iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Its chassis is crafted from 18-karat white gold and accented with blue enamel, diamonds and a fragment of Muonionalusta meteorite. According to Caviar, this ultra-exclusive version carries a price tag of approximately Rs 2 crore.
The design is intended to blend fine watchmaking with bespoke smartphone craftsmanship, appealing to collectors who value both.
A second model, known as the Portugieser edition, houses an IWC Portugieser Tourbillon Mystère Squelette within a white gold frame.
The phone incorporates hand-engraved details, white diamonds and orange sapphires that complement the watch's exposed tourbillon mechanism.
Caviar is also offering custom chassis development for owners of Swiss watches measuring between 42mm and 44mm. This allows collectors to integrate their existing timepieces into a personalised iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The company has also revealed concept designs featuring watches from Rolex and Jacob & Co. While these remain concepts for now, they indicate the direction of future releases.
With precious metals, rare gemstones, meteorite fragments and some of the world's most prestigious watches, the Masters of Time collection pushes the idea of smartphone luxury into entirely new territory.
