Apple has raised global prices of MacBook Pro and iPad Air models by 20–42%, citing an unprecedented spike in memory and storage costs driven by AI data centres. In India, the 14‑inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro now costs ₹2,99,900, signalling intense pricing pressure across consumer electronics.
Owing to an increase in the cost of memory chips, Apple has massively increased the prices of MacBook and iPad models. Even Mac desktop prices have been affected. The increase in prices ranges between 20% and 42% compared to their launch prices. The price increase will leave a huge dent in the pockets of buyers in India.
As per the new MacBook and iPad price list on the official website of Apple India, the price of the MacBook Pro built on the M5 series chip has increased significantly. The price of the MacBook Pro M5 Max price has been hiked to Rs 4,99,900 from Rs 3,99,900. MacBook Pro M5 price has been increased to Rs 2,39,900 from Rs 1,69,900.
At the same time, iPad Air price has increased to Rs 89,900 from Rs 64,900. And iPad Pro price has been increased to Rs 1,39,900 from Rs 99,900.
Apple officials have repeatedly raised the issue of an extraordinary surge in the demand for memory and storage because of the rapid expansion of AI data centres and that is the reason for the price hike.
"We have shielded our customers from these increases so far, but we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today's increases for iPad and Mac," says an Apple statement.
