iPhone Duo Pre-Booking: Big Disappointment As Sales Went Live

The iPhone Duo pre-booking has reportedly cleared out the entire first week's stock in India, which means anyone hoping for a walk-in purchase at an Apple Store is likely to go home empty-handed.

If you were planning to casually stroll into an Apple Store and walk out with a shiny new iPhone Duo, here is some bad news: you’re already too late. Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet, the brand’s first foldable, went on sale across India from October 23, but the first week’s stock has reportedly been wiped out entirely by pre-bookings.

Apple Stores in Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Saket are said to be running neck and neck for the highest booking numbers in the country, which tells you exactly how badly people wanted it.

The Sold-Out Surprise

PTI reported that the first week’s stock of the iPhone Duo is entirely sold out in India, which essentially rules out any walk-in, spot purchases at Apple Stores.

Pre-orders opened on October 16, and in just a week, demand managed to outrun supply completely.

The Duo also marks Apple’s official entry into the foldable race, priced between roughly Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh.

Betting Big Against Samsung

Despite the premium price tag, analysts expect the iPhone Duo to claim around 24 per cent of India’s foldable market, going head-to-head with Samsung’s Z Fold 8 series, priced between Rs 1.79 lakh and Rs 2.6 lakh for the 1TB variant.

Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak believes the early rush will come from loyal Apple users and tech-forward early adopters who’ve waited years for an Apple foldable.

Folded, the Duo carries a 5.4-inch display, nearly 90 per cent of the iPhone 18 Pro’s screen area; unfolded, it stretches to 7.6 inches, 50 per cent bigger than the Pro Max.

Pathak expects the Duo to grow India’s foldable segment by value first, volume later. It fits neatly into Apple’s broader India run, with FY26 revenue estimated past $10 billion and iPhone shipments up 24 per cent year-on-year to 14 million units.
