The iPhone 18 Pro Max has arrived and it delivered a huge sticker shock. The iPhone 18 Pro was a bit lower, but it did not bring too much of a relief. If your bank account flinched at those price tags, know that a solution may well be on way, if you are looking at buying an iPhone. What are we talking about? The standard iPhone 18, which quietly skipped the September launch event. It is now expected to show up in spring 2027. The iPhone 18 will likely be as big an attention grabber as the Pro and Pro Max, without anyone having to remortgage anything.
Apple broke from its usual playbook and pushed the iPhone 18 model's release to spring 2027, though nothing' is confirmed yet. iPhone 18 price is expected to be around $899 (approx. Rs 82000). This will be a jump from the iPhone 17, but still nowhere near Pro Max territory. However, this iPhone will not have some of the top class specs now touted by the latest Pro and Pro Max iPhones.
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 is tipped to run on a 2nm A20 chip, alongside either 9GB or 12GB RAM; analysts can't quite agree which.
The iPhone 18 display should stay close to the iPhone 17's, a 6.3-inch panel with up to 120Hz ProMotion and a Dynamic Island that might shrink slightly.
iPhone 18 cameras get a nice bump too, with two 48MP rear sensors expected alongside a 24MP front camera, up from last year's 18MP. Camera Control appears to be sticking around too, though possibly simplified to cut costs.
Apple's C2 modem and N1 chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth round out the connectivity side.
So, far as the latest reports go, iPhone 18 standard model is shaping up to be the sensible sibling in an increasingly pricey family.
