The standard iPhone 18 has n’ot been forgotten. At least that is what the new iPhone 18 leak suggests. Apple might have broken from tradition this fall by launching only the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and Duo, but the standard phone is set to come soon and it will get a battery boost. It’s expected to arrive early next year, and according to this fresh leak, it will have big upgrades to tout. However, iPhone 18 price too may get a big hike.
Reportedly, there are two features said to be borrowed straight from the Pro playbook by iPhone 18, and here's what’s reportedly on the cards.
Leaker Digital Chat Station, posting on Weibo, claims the iPhone 18 is set to carry forward the battery gains seen on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with its own capacity getting a noticeable bump.
For context, the iPhone 17 currently runs on a 3,692 mAh battery, while the iPhone 18 Pro jumped to 4,056 mAh and the iPhone 18 Pro Max went even further at 5,391 mAh, so the base model finally catching up on this front would be a meaningful upgrade.
It won’t be a like-for-like match with the Pro chip, but the base model is tipped to run on an A20 chip of its own, built on TSMC’s new 2-nanometer process, a jump expected to bring better performance and efficiency.
Not every Pro trait is making the leap, though. The smaller Dynamic Island reportedly stays exclusive to the Pro lineup, skipping the standard iPhone 18 entirely.
The leaker also weighs in on pricing, suggesting the iPhone 18 could cost more than the current iPhone 17. That said, this bit reads more like an educated guess than a confirmed detail. Still, the pattern isn’t out of nowhere; the iPhone 17 itself already climbed Rs 17,000 from its original cost, now starting at Rs 82,900.
With the base iPhone 18 still months away from an official unveiling, these upgrades remain exclusive to the leak territory for now. But if this holds true, the gap between Apple’s standard and Pro iPhones might be shrinking in ways fans didn’t see coming.
