If you are a health- and fitness-conscious person, then adopting new technology should definitely be on the script and fitness trackers, fit the bill perfectly. The latest development in this field is that Google has finally thrown its hat into the screenless fitness tracker ring, and the obvious rival waiting on the other side is Whoop 5.0. Both skip the display entirely, both are designed to be worn day and night, and both lean hard on their apps to actually tell you anything. But look past the no-screen gimmick and both the Google Fitbit Air and Whoop trackers start pulling in very different directions.

Google Fitbit Air vs Whoop 5.0: Price & Subscription

Fitbit Air retails at Rs 13,999 in India and comes with three months of Google Health Premium thrown in, a subscription that isn't mandatory for core tracking and renews at just Rs 99 a month or Rs 999 a year.

Whoop 5.0 plays an entirely different game. The 5.0 One starts at Rs 21,990 and the Peak version climbs to Rs 28,990, both bundled with 12 months of membership that's non-negotiable once the trial period ends.

Put simply, Fitbit Air walks in nearly Rs 15,000 cheaper than the Peak, while its core tracking doesn’t require an ongoing membership.

Google Fitbit Air vs Whoop 5.0: All The Data Accuracy

Fitbit Air isn't shy on sensors, packing an optical heart-rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, red and infrared SpO2 sensors, and a skin-temperature sensor into its 12g frame. That gets you heart-rate variability, AFib notifications, breathing rate, and sleep staging without much fuss.

Whoop 5.0, meanwhile, builds its entire identity around turning that kind of data into deeper insights, folding HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate and skin temperature into its Recovery score rather than just displaying numbers.

Fitbit Air manages up to seven days, though five minutes on a USB-C cable buys a full day's charge. On water resistance, Fitbit Air is rated to 50 metres, while Whoop 5.0 is simply built for nonstop wear through workouts, showers, and sleep alike.

Both devices work towards one goal: keeping you on top of your health. But when it comes to choosing between them, listen to your heart, and more importantly, your wallet.
