Matcha has officially moved beyond the café menu. It’s in our skincare, our kitchens, our feeds and now, apparently, on our wrists. Casio’s latest collaboration with Café Kitsuné takes the Japanese tea’s unmistakable green hue and turns it into a quietly distinctive everyday watch.

The new Casio Vintage AQ-230ECK-3A brings together two brands with very different origins but a shared appreciation for Japanese design. Café Kitsuné, the French-Japanese café and lifestyle brand, has been championing matcha in Paris since 2014, while Casio’s Vintage collection has long found new relevance in retro watch design.

Based on Casio’s classic AQ-230, the collaboration keeps the familiar square silhouette and analogue-digital display, but gives it a decidedly fresher personality. Its light matcha-green dial is paired with a silver metal strap, creating a combination that feels less like traditional watchmaking and more like something you might spot alongside a matcha latte at a Tokyo café.

The collaboration reveals itself in the details. Café Kitsuné’s signature fox appears on both the dial and case back, while its logo is engraved into the case back and clasp. Even the packaging gets the matcha treatment, carrying the same green palette as the watch.

Importantly, the AQ-230ECK doesn’t sacrifice practicality for aesthetics. The lightweight watch comes with everyday functions including an alarm, stopwatch, hourly time signal, auto calendar, EL backlight and water resistance.

But its biggest appeal may be how effortlessly it fits into the current appetite for objects that blur fashion, food and lifestyle. Café culture is no longer simply about what’s in your cup; cafés have become spaces where design, clothing and personal style converge. This Casio collaboration feels like a natural extension of that world. So, if your matcha order has become as much a part of your personality as your wardrobe, there’s now a way to wear it, too.
