Some on-screen pairings refuse to fade. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna gave audiences the breezy romance of Geetha Govindam and the bruised idealism of Dear Comrade, and their reunion in Ranabaali, now playing in cinemas, has viewers already looking ahead to the Ranabaali OTT release. According to reports, Netflix is the expected platform once the theatrical run ends, although the makers have not officially confirmed a streaming date. Check out what is known so far about where, when and in which languages you may be able to watch it at home.
Ranabaali is expected to arrive on Netflix following its theatrical run, according to reports cited by Filmibeat. However, an exact OTT release date has not been announced by the filmmakers or the streaming platform. Viewers will therefore have to wait for an official update before planning their online watch.
The same reports suggest the streaming version will come in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. That would make the film accessible to viewers across the south and the Hindi-speaking belt.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is a Telugu period action drama set in 19th-century India and inspired by the Madras Famine of 1876 to 1878. It follows a warrior who rises against colonial rule as hunger, exploitation and violence affect ordinary people. The story combines large-scale action with the human cost of colonial rule.
Vijay Deverakonda plays the title role, with Rashmika Mandanna as Jayamma, his wife. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy films, plays the British antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. The music is by Ajay-Atul, the duo behind Sairat.
As per Sacnilk, Ranabaali sold Rs 6.78 crore in advance bookings in India, with Rs 2.37 crore of that for opening day. It faces stiff competition, since Jailer 2, released a day earlier, had Rs 41.48 crore in Day 1 advance bookings. As per several reports, Ranabaali could earn between Rs 180 and 200 crore worldwide, against a reported budget of around Rs 200 crore.
