This season swaps in an entirely fresh lineup: Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra, and Vishal Bhardwaj, each helming a separate, self-contained story. The original 2018 season was created by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. Following this season 2 featured Konkona Sen Sharma, R Balki, Sujoy Ghosh, and Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Rotating in new storytellers each edition has become something of a franchise signature.
The ensemble includes Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Sana Thampi, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Siddharth, Ali Fazal, and Gurfateh Pirzada. Reported pairings include Radhika Apte and Konkona Sen Sharma in Motwane's segment, Ali Fazal and Radhika Madan in Batra's, Gurfateh Pirzada opposite newcomer Sana Thampi in Rao's, and Aditi Rao Hydari headlining Bhardwaj's film.
Netflix India's Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh credited the franchise's staying power to its habit of reinventing itself with each edition, noting that every chapter starts from a shared human impulse but ends somewhere emotionally different. Producer Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP said the anthology keeps challenging convention by bringing in filmmakers with distinct voices, while Ashi Dua of Flying Unicorn Entertainment pointed to this season's mix of tones and perspectives.
Since 2018, Lust Stories has built a reputation for tackling themes- infidelity, sex, personal agency, that mainstream Bollywood tends to avoid, earning an International Emmy nomination along the way.
