A new Netflix teaser revisits the Royal Mint and Bank of Spain heists, declaring that the revolution continues and teasing an upcoming project in the Money Heist universe. The streamer has not confirmed Season 6, leaving room for theories about a spinoff or mid‑timeline story, while fans eagerly search for signs that Álvaro Morte’s Professor could be back in action.

Netflix has officially confirmed that the Money Heist universe is expanding once again, five years after the original Spanish crime drama ended with its fifth season in 2021. The announcement arrived through a teaser video released on Sunday, stating that the revolution never really ended with the finale.

But here’s the twist: the streaming platform has not directly confirmed a sixth season yet, so the new season might as well be a spinoff. You could think of it like Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, which is supposed to be taking place between the events of season 2 and 3.

What The New Money Heist Teaser Tells Us

A little context first. Netflix also organised a promotional event in Seville, Spain. Thousands of fans gathered near the Guadalquivir River as a boat carrying people dressed in the franchise’s iconic red jumpsuits and Salvador Dalí masks moved through the city while Bella Ciao played in the background.

You would be forgiven to this was some sort of promotion for Berlin Season 2, except Netflix teased an entirely different thing.

The one-minute announcement video revisited some of the biggest moments from the Royal Mint and Bank of Spain heists, ending with the line, “The revolution never ends.” Another line from the teaser hinted that “what comes next in this franchise has already begun,” adding to speculation that the new project is connected to the main series.

Is The Professor returning?

One of the biggest questions surrounding the announcement is whether Álvaro Morte will return as Sergio Marquina, better known as The Professor. Netflix has not officially confirmed his involvement in any upcoming project.

But the internet did what it always does, and fans online have pointed to several hints from the teaser to conclude that The Professor might indeed be returning. After all, the franchise’s popularity practically rested on the charm of The Professor.

About Berlin Season 2

A still from Berlin Season 1

The latest announcement also serves as a build-up to Berlin Season 2, officially titled Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine. The spin-off (which premieres globally on May 15, 2026) follows Andrés de Fonollosa, also known as Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso. After the first season of Berlin became a major success for Netflix, reportedly entering the Top 10 in over 90 countries during its debut week and remaining on global charts for seven weeks, the new season will focus on another elaborate heist involving Berlin, Keila, and Damián as they target the Duke of Málaga. Actors Michelle Jenner and Tristán Ulloa are returning alongside Alonso.
