Inspired by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's iconic novel Devdas, the new tamil film DC (short for Devdas and Chandra) offers a much darker and bloodier reinterpretation of the classic tragedy.
The story follows Das (Lokesh Kanagaraj), an outlaw consumed by grief after corrupt police officers kill Parvathy (Sanjana Krishnamoorthy), the love of his life. Driven by vengeance, he embarks on a brutal mission, joined by Chandra (Wamiqa Gabbi), a sex worker seeking her own escape from exploitation. DC will stream on Sun NXT, which has secured the film's post-theatrical streaming rights.
While the makers are yet to announce an official OTT premiere date, Tamil films typically arrive on streaming platforms around six to eight weeks after their theatrical release. Since DC hit cinemas on August 7, 2026, the film is expected to begin streaming sometime between September 18 and October 2, 2026. An official announcement from the makers or Sun NXT is still awaited.
Until the official OTT premiere date is announced, DC continues to run in select theatres primarily in Tamil and Telugu but is also available in Hindi in dubbed versions.
