Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty in his directorial debut and produced by YRF Entertainment, Netflix’s Akka is an Indian action thriller set in Pernuru, an imagined kingdom that has been governed by women for centuries. Keerthy Suresh stars as Bhavani and Radhika Apte as Rudra, with Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar in the ensemble.

If you have finished the Netflix series, which premiered on October 30, 2026, and want clarity on the ending, we cover every major turn below. Full spoilers for the entire series follow.

A Little About The Plot Of Akka

Pernuru is an imagined matriarchal kingdom. After a war claimed many of its men, the women took charge, and the custom that grew from it placed three sisters in command of three regions: Marmela, Perplady and Herkada.

This kingdom outlasted the British Empire, but the Mumbai mafia of the 80s is posing a bigger threat. Bhavani, played by Keerthy Suresh, is the Akka of Marmela, and her fortune rests on a legal alcohol tender. Shankar Dada, who runs the Mumbai mafia, dispatches his trusted assassin Rudra (Radhika Apte) to take over Pernuru, with help from Bhavani’s cousin Amar, who doesn’t share the best relationship with her.

Rudra provokes the Pernuru men who have been tired of the matriarchy and uses them to disrupt Bhavani’s trade networks. The blame lands on Bhavani, who is arrested. Rudra then distracts the royal guards and has Bhavani’s mother assassinated, which declares war on the sisterhood and its hold over the land.

In a flashback, we learn that Rudra is Bhavani’s cousin. Her mother was a poor tribal woman whom Bhavani’s uncle was forbidden to marry. When he took his life, Rudra’s mother and her tribe, the Jherum, were cast out of society as punishment.

Akka Ending Explained: Who Dies In The End?

Towards the end, Bhavani’s treasury is looted, her army is depleted, and her loved ones are dead. So she turns to the Kathava, a tribe of warrior women who once served the Akka during her mother’s reign.

The tribe was once wronged by the Akkas, so they aren’t exactly keen on joining the fight, but Bhavani manipulates them into a one-sided massacre that ends in her victory. However, this is a pyrrhic victory, and Bhavani will have to remake the kingdom from scraps.

Cornered with no options left, Rudra swallows a cyanide pill, just like she had killed a man in her introductory scene.

But Rudra isn’t the only one who dies. Taking part in the revolt of men is Nanda, Bhavani’s lover. Nanda is aggrieved by the old customs of the region that prevent him from marrying the Akka. So when Rudra rallies the men to fight back, he joins in. The rebellion is crushed, and at the seashore where the two used to meet before, Bhavani has to kill her partner.

Akka Credit Scene Explained: Who Is Shankar? What Is His Relation To Bhavani?

The mid-credits scene delivers the show’s biggest reveal. Shankar returns as the main antagonist, and the audience learns that he is Bhavani’s father and is preparing to come back to Pernuru and stake his claim. Bhavani appears to be unaware of the connection. Now that Rudra has hollowed out the three sisters’ centuries-old reign, however quickly Bhavani recovers, pockets of power vacuum will remain for Shankar to fill, leaving room for a possible season 2.
