Bandar, starring Bobby Deol as fading celebrity Samar Mehra, is being applauded online for its gripping, uncomfortable portrayal of a man destroyed by serious allegations and media trial. Early viewers on Twitter highlight Kashyap’s messy, realistic storytelling, the film’s focus on men’s invisible emotional burden, and a tense prison narrative that lingers long after the credits roll.

Anurag Kashyap is back, and Bandar is exactly the film you'd expect from him, raw, and hard to shake off once you have seen it. Bobby Deol's crime thriller has been doing the rounds on social media since it hit theatres, and the reactions are exactly what you'd expect from a Kashyap film, loud, divided, and impossible to ignore. The film had already screened at TIFF 2025, so there was some anticipation built up. Now that it's out properly, people have a lot to say. Take a look at the Bandar Twitter review below.

Bandar Twitter Review

X has been noisy since the release of Bandar movie, with early viewers ranging from floored to unsettled — sometimes both at once.

Ravi Gupta gave it 4.5 stars and didn't hold back: "#Bandar Review: EXCEPTIONAL Just watched #Bandar.... and I genuinely believe this is one of the most NECESSARY films of our time (From Hindi Cinema). The film addresses a subject that society can no longer afford to ignore. It explores how 'gender-biased laws'.. their misuse and the resulting legal battles can affect individuals, families, careers and even the justice system itself."

Het Tanna (@HetTannaHere) was more measured but still gave Bobby Deol his due: "Rating: #Bandar features #BobbyDeol in an INTENSE avatar, and he has delivered his performance with utmost HONESTY and shines on the big screen with his terrific act, the film opens up on a promising note with some really engaging scenes."

Ravi Chaudhary went with four stars and got into the story itself: "#BandarReview- #Bandar is one of the boldest and most uncomfortable Hindi films in recent years. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film tells the story of Samar Mehra (Bobby Deol), a fading celebrity whose life turns upside down after he is accused in a serious legal case and ends up behind bars."

And then there was this, from Isha, which cut to what a lot of people seemed to be feeling: "The most powerful part of #Bandar is how real it feels. Men are expected to stay quiet and strong even when crushed by shame and public humiliation. That emotional burden is invisible to most, but very real. Men's pain needs to be seen, not ignored."

Bandar Storyline

As per IMDb synopsis, Bobby Deol plays Sameer Mehra, a television star whose career is already fading when a serious allegation tips everything over the edge. Arrest, public humiliation, the whole collapse. His relationships with ex-girlfriend Gayatri (Sapna Pabbi) and younger partner Khushi (Saba Azad) add another layer of mess to an already unravelling life. Sanya Malhotra plays his sister, who ends up being the one person still standing in his corner. Indrajith Sukumaran, Raj B Shetty and Jitendra Joshi round out the cast.
