The first-ever meeting between the two sides in men's international cricket will be played at the Sano International Cricket Ground from 9:30 a.m. IST onwards. The fixture also kicks off celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations.

The IND vs JPN T20I match will also serve as preparation for the Asian Games, where India's campaign begins directly at the quarterfinal stage on September 28.

On paper, it is a complete mismatch as India are the reigning T20 World Cup champions, while Japan are ranked 41st in the world. But beyond the numbers, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Japan's cricketers to rub shoulders with the best in the business.

Japan will be led by their leading T20I run-scorer, Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, in the milestone game on Tuesday. Kadowaki-Fleming has made it clear his side is not here just to turn up. They understand the magnitude of the occasion and are eager to showcase their talent on the world stage.

"As exciting as the occasion will be of playing India, we're not there to just celebrate the occasion. We're there to show what we can do as a men's team," Kadowaki-Fleming said earlier this month, as per news agency PTI.

Ahead of the match, skipper Shreyas Iyer said that the match is going to be a thrilling and exciting one for the Indian team.

"Yes, it is going to be a thrilling and exciting match for us. This is the first time we will be playing Japan, and I don't know much about the conditions, the wicket, but looking forward to have a great match," he said in a video shared by the BCCI on social media platform X.

"It's beautiful. The time we landed, we saw the people, very cordial, generous, and helpful in nature, which we see it back at home as well. The hospitality is brilliant," said Iyer while talking about his first impressions of Japan.

"It's too early to talk about it (only been a day), but I've heard special things from people about Japan as a country and Tokyo as a city as well, so looking forward to explore more."
