Helldivers 2 Is About To Land For Xbox Owners Soon
Sony’s surprise move brings co-op chaos and space democracy to Series X|S players
After months of rumour-fuelled Reddit threads and a few thousand digital signatures on Change.org, (yeah that really happened), Helldivers 2 is finally making its debut jump to Xbox.
The ultra-chaotic, co-op shooter that’s had PlayStation players screaming into their mics since February is officially set to hit the platform on 26 August, the fight for Super Earth begins anew… this time, on Series X|S.

It’s hard to overstate how surreal this moment feels. Sony, the gatekeepers of exclusives and proud parents of the Helldivers IP, are letting one of their crown jewels go walkabout on Xbox turf.

And no, this isn’t another MLB The Show situation where baseball’s corporate overlords likely nudged things along for the sake of broadening their merch-hungry fanbase. This is different. This feels like something shifting. For the uninitiated, Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. It's fast, it’s funny, it’s brutally difficult, and it’s got more than a whiff of Starship Troopers about it.
Reddit’s already dubbed it “gamified space fascism with a wink”—and they’re not wrong. Players team up, drop onto hostile alien planets, and blow everything to bits in the name of democracy, liberty, and the glory of Super Earth.

So far, it’s been a PlayStation 5-only affair (with a PC version tossed in for good measure). But that hasn’t stopped Xbox fans from banging down the door. In fact, a petition was made to bring the game to Xbox racked up over 133,000 signatures earlier this year, and the cries have only grown louder as the game’s reputation has snowballed since.
Arrowhead Game clearly heard the noise and so rightly, in a statement said: “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun”.
However, before you jump the gun and get your hopes up—Helldivers 2 is not landing on Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft confirmed that Xbox players will need to cough up the cash. The base game will cost around £32 (₹3735), which isn’t exactly scandalous considering the hours of controlled chaos you’ll be diving into.
But for those wanting to flex a little harder, there’s also the Super Citizen Edition. Yup, there will be a premium version available to users for the price of about £48 (₹5602), and includes a bunch of extras along with the full game, obviously!

So, here’s what you can expect with the premium version- the DP-53 “Saviour of the Free” armour set; the “Will of the People” cape (very on-brand);the MP-98 “Knight” weapon; super citizen status; a stratagem hero ship game and a premium Warbond token.
Basically, if you’re planning to be in it for the long haul—and you want to look good doing it—it’s not a bad shout.
If this isn’t enough, you must know that the real story here isn’t the gear. It’s what this move represents.

Sony letting go of one of its hottest properties just six months after launch? That’s not just rare—it’s borderline unthinkable. Could this be the start of something new? A future where exclusivity isn’t the industry’s default setting? Or is this just a one-off, a calculated olive branch to appease a vocal fanbase and extend the lifespan of a breakout hit?
No one’s quite sure yet. But what we do know is this: Helldivers 2 on Xbox is a win for players, full stop. Whether you're a die-hard soldier of Super Earth or just someone who’s been watching the mayhem from afar, 26 August is your drop date.
So, pack your cape. Grab your squad. The galaxy isn’t going to liberate itself.
