Wearables have gotten used to living on wrists, but Deepinder Goyal's Temple decided your temple deserved some attention too. Stuck to the side of your head with adhesive Grips, it couldn’t look more different from the Oura Ring 4, which still does its thing the old-fashioned way, slipped quietly onto a finger. Both promise to decode what’s happening inside you round the clock, but the paths they take to get there barely overlap. One’s chasing blood flow near your brain, the other’s chasing pretty much everything else your body does. So which one’s actually worth strapping, or slipping, on?
Battery life keeps both fairly evenly matched, Temple lasting around seven days, Oura Ring 4 4 stretching to eight. Temple is built to survive workouts, showers and swims, while Oura counters with water resistance up to 100 metres.
Price is where things split further. Temple price and subscription details simply aren’t out yet. Oura Ring 4 price starts at Rs 28,900 in India, plus a membership at Rs 599 a month or Rs 6,999 annually after the first free month.
Temple leans into something genuinely unusual with its BrainFlow technology, built to monitor blood flow changes around the brain, alongside a metric called Entropy, essentially your body’s real-time “cost of being alive,” scored between 1 and 250 based on sleep, stress, exercise, caffeine and meditation.
Oura takes the more familiar route, using Smart Sensing and an 18-path multi-wavelength PPG system to cover resting heart rate, HRV, sleep stages, blood oxygen, temperature trends and respiration, with an accelerometer thrown in to track movement.
Worth remembering, Temple hasn’t even been released yet, and everything known about it so far comes from what Deepinder Goyal has shared. So it’s probably wise to wait and watch before deciding anything. But if waiting isn’t an option, the Oura Ring 4 4 is the one you can actually buy today.
