Call me cliche, judge me for not agreeing to your "spirit of Mumbai" criticisms and what not, but if you live in a city that sits by the sea, it's plain idiocy to not appreciate it. If you're in Cairo, of course you'll appreciate the Giza pyramids. If you're in Ladakh, of course you'll have a thing for the mountains. So if you have that view to the Arabian sea, why not pair it with a scrumptious meal with the sea breeze against your hair? These are the places we recommednd you check out, if you haven't already

Sea Lounge is the Taj's first-floor tea room, where its floating staircase and art deco furniture make for a really pleasing ambience while the food arrives. It started on the hotel's promenade in the 1920s, moved upstairs, and only became a proper tea ritual in the 1980s when British Airways crew began stopping in between flights. Ask for a window table facing the Gateway of India, everything else is backdrop after all.

This is Mumbai's first true beach club, designed by Minal Chopra, with the sunburnt reds and sandy neutrals of Ibiza and Mykonos transplanted onto Sun-n-Sand's stretch of Juhu. A pool runs through the space, palm trees line the sand, and small sculptural figures double as cover for the air-conditioning ducts. Visit for brunch in the morning, or enjoy a beach party in the evening, but there are also calmer corners by the sand for anyone who'd rather just watch the water.

Cecconi's occupies the ground floor of Soho House Mumbai, open to members and walk-in diners alike. Its garden terrace looks straight onto the Arabian Sea. It runs on handmade pasta, cicchetti and wood-fired pizzas , and doubles as one of the city's more reliable aperitivo spots. Book the terrace if you can: the light over Juhu Beach at sunset is breathtaking.

Once the city's go-to venue for live gigs through the late 90s and early 2000s, Razzberry Rhinoceros reopened in 2017 near Silver Beach, one of Juhu's less crowded stretches. It splits into a sea-facing lawn and an indoor section, with the veg platter, risotto and barbecued snacks still pulling regulars back. An easy pick if you're only in town for a few days and want the coastline without much fuss.

On the 37th floor of the St. Regis in Lower Parel, By The Mekong trades a beach for a wraparound view of the Mumbai skyline, with the Arabian Sea visible in the distance on a clear day. The menu includes Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese, heavy on dim sum and Peking duck. It's less about the sea itself than the sense of sitting above the whole city, sea included.

Dome sits on the InterContinental's rooftop on Marine Drive, and its cocktails (try the Poison Ivy or the Honey Pollo) have earned it a reputation as one of the world's better sky bars. It's a real splurge, on the bill and the dress code (21 and up, no shorts, no open footwear), but the view of the Queen's Necklace at night makes the case for itself.
