Everybody's favorite web-slinger is back, and the run at the box office has been nothing short of spectacular. The Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer Spider-Man: Brand New Day has smashed record after record since it hit theaters, and now fans are turning their attention to when they'll be able to watch it from home. According to current reports, that wait may not stretch too much longer.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened in theaters on July 31 and has continued pulling in audiences well past the nine-weekend mark, a rare feat for any release in today's theatrical landscape. The numbers reflect that staying power worldwide too: the film's global collection now sits above USD 2 billion, placing it among the highest-grossing films ever made.
The film is going to become available for digital rental on October 6 on Prime Video, giving fans a chance to watch it at home via purchase or rental on demand. It's worth noting that this date has not been officially confirmed by Sony Pictures, so it should be treated as an expected window rather than a locked-in release date.
The film picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Doctor Strange's spell erased Peter Parker from the memories of everyone who once knew him. Brand New Day finds Peter still living with the fallout of that choice isolated from the people he loves, including MJ and Ned, and rebuilding a life where nobody remembers who he really is. The story follows him as he comes up against a powerful new threat while also dealing with an unexpected physical change brought on by the toll of his double life as Spider-Man. Along the way, he crosses paths with familiar faces from across the MCU, including Bruce Banner and the Punisher, while also facing off against classic Spider-Man villains.
Tom Holland returns once again as Peter Parker, with Zendaya back as MJ. The supporting cast includes Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the Punisher. The villain features Michael Mando as Scorpion, alongside Krondon as Tombstone. Sadie Sink also joins the film in a role that ties the story into the wider X-Men side of the Marvel universe. The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal.
