9 New Movies Releasing in May 2025
May the month of May be a good one for the movies!
With a million other entertainment options readily available, going to the movie theatres isn’t much of a priority for the average Joe anymore. They can watch a show on their preferred OTT platform or tune in for the IPL instead. Or just watch/read content on their mobile phones.
Which is why, movie makers and the people acting in them are having a harder than usual time – films are tanking every week, and the film industry is going through a truly disastrous patch. Those randomly-planned re-releases of successful movies aren’t helping much either.

When was the last time you saw a truly great new movie? We’re entering the 5th month of the year and I doubt if you’ll be able to list even five such movies from the lot that have released in 2025. Such are the tragic times we’re in – movies are turning out to be more bad than good, and even our trusted of stars are failing to entertain us.

Bhool Chuk Maaf
Rajkummar Rao is certainly out to prove his credentials as a mainstream lead actor, though his success rate with such films is average at best. In Bhool Chuk Maaf, his character is stuck in some kind of time-loop, unable to reach the day of his marriage. We’re expecting comedy, lots of it!

Ace
A romantic crime movie starring Vijay Sethupathi, along with Rukmini Vasanth, sounds extremely exciting on paper, for sure. Will Ace turn out to be everything it is promising to be? That’s something we’ll find out only when it releases. Until then, one can really hope, that’s all.

Kingdom
Vijay Deverakonda is back to claim his Kingdom – sorry, it was too hard to resist the pun! The charismatic hasn’t had a good run at the movies for quite a while now, and this might be his big shot at reclaiming the stardom he had earned with Arjun Reddy.

The first look of the film garnered quite a reaction from everyone so naturally, hopes from this pan- India release are high enough to get his fans thronging to the theatres. Hopefully, might I add?
