Would You Watch A James Bond TV Series?

With Amazon MGM gaining creative control of the James Bond franchise, rumours are rife the next 007 movie might actually be a TV show instead. How does that make you feel?

James Bond has landed himself in a new spot, and depending on how you like your martini, the news will leave you either shaken or stirred, or both.

In case you’ve missed it, Amazon MGM studios have acquired the rights of the 007 franchise, after a long-in-the-making agreement between the long-time producers of the franchise, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, got finalised yesterday. As per this new arrangement, the three parties have formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights.

While all three will remain co-owners of the iconic franchise, it’s Amazon MGM that will have creative control. And it’s exactly this development that’s led to a host of queries regarding the future of 007.

For starters, could the next James Bond outing be a TV series and not a movie? As per rumours that’ve been circulating on the internet for a while, the real reason for the delay of the next Bond film has essentially been a ‘clash’ between Wilson and Broccoli and Amazon over the direction the franchise would and should take in the future.

Who will be the next James Bond?

When Jeff Bezos asked the same question on X, while announcing this news, the comments ranged from Henry Cavill (the most popular choice) to Aaron-Taylor Johnson and Idris Elba, among other. But there’s been no word on this for a while, even though former Bond, Daniel Craig, announced his departure from the franchise many moons ago.
