It's the month of love so, yes, there are quite a few love stories releasing this month. But fortunately, so are movies on anything but love.

Vidaamuyarchi
Based on the 1997 Kurt Russell-starrer Breakdown, Ajith’s newest outing at the movies, Vidaamuyarchi, has made all kinds of news the past few months. From controversies to delays, it’s been uncharacteristically tumultuous but that clearly hasn’t stopped his fans from waiting with bated breath for the movie to release. It’s finally hitting the screens this month, so we’ll find out if it’s been worth the wait.

Thandel
Naga Chaitanya may have made predominantly for his personal life off late (he married Sobhita Dhulipala last year, for those of you living under a rock!) but he’s starting 2025 with a fierce attempt to drive the narrative back to his professional one. Thandel is a survival-drama movie, featuring him as a fisherman who accidently drifts into Pakistani waters. There’s a metaphor somewhere about treading into uncharted waters...

Loveyapa
Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, and Jahnvi Kapoor’s younger sister, Khushi Kapoor, both make their big-screen debut with Loveyapa, a remake of the Tamil film, Love Today. Both young actors had a rather lukewarm response from the audience for their OTT debuts, Maharaj and The Archies, respectively, so they’re hugely betting to win some love with this Valentine’s week outing.

Badass Ravikumar
It may seem hard to believe that it’s an actual film and not a mock one instead but you’d better believe that Badass Ravikumar is a legitimate ‘movie’ and it’s definitely releasing in theatres. This is yet another instalment of what can be called as the ‘Himesh Reshammiya doing Himesh Reshammiya things’ genre, so watch it at your own risk!

Chhaava
Vicky Kaushal goes the historical route with this one and judging by the trailer, he’s screaming, shouting and shattering men (and a lion!) to a pulp as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. Joining him in this period movie are Akshaye Khanna (unrecognisable as Aurangzeb) and Rashmika Mandanna.

Captain America: Brave New World
Sam Wilson continues his journey as Captain America, this time in a movie, Captain America: Brave New World. Yes, the plot continues from where the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ended, and the film is the first Captain America movie since the Chris Evans’ trilogy as the titular character. Are you sold yet?

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy
Bridget Jones is back and this time she has a boyfriend who is 22 years younger than her, so there are expected to be a host of comedic circumstances on her way. The movie promises to be everything that’s made this franchise popular with the ladies (and some men) so make sure you’ve made plans to take your woman out for a movie on Valentine’s Day. Would you like it as well? We don’t think it matters!

Mere Husband Ki Biwi
You’re not the only one absolutely confused with the title but maybe, that’s what the makers intended? The trio of Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh star in this comedy-drama and that’s all that we know at the time of filing this piece. While the cast hasn’t had much luck at the box-office off late (we refuse to call Singham Again a success, mind you!), here’s hoping this one revives their luck.

Superboys of Malegaon
Reema Kagti’s film has travelled the world across film festivals for the past year and is finally coming home this month. Starring Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora and Vineet Kumar Singh, Superboys of Malegaon is the story of, well, some kind of super boys living in the town of Malegaon, as the title suggests. What makes these boys ‘super’ is their love for cinema as they come together to make a film on their town. Here’s hoping this film inside a film hits the right notes!
